Microservices – An Integration Architects dream or nightmare?
Microservices are the next evolution in application development. SOA made us familiar with the 'service'-concept. It introduced new concepts like Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), Service Registries, Business Process Engines, etc. But what is the impact of a microservice architecture on these concepts? The integration challenges are getting bigger and bigger, due to the high number of services. How should integration architects cope with this? In this session, we will tackle these challenges.

Details

We are going to look into the different aspect of the inter-service communication in a microservice architecture, from synchronous request/response (Rest, gRPC) and asynchronous pub/sub (AMQP, Kafka) to an event-driven communication. We will discus how API Gateways and service meshes will influence the work of an integration architect and which role the integration architect can play within a microservice team
